Danny Weijermans
Film composer & sounddesigner
Danny Weijermans moves through the world of sound like a fish through water — instinctively, fluidly, and with quiet mastery.
A lifelong composer, musician, and sound designer, he weaves emotion and imagination into every sonic texture he creates. His deep love for film and theatre fuels his ability to shape stories through sound — transforming silence into space, rhythm into motion, and music into meaning.
From his studio in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Danny devotes himself to composing and designing commissioned works that breathe life into image and performance. His artistry lies not only in his ear, but in his sensitivity to atmosphere, timing, and storytelling.
During his studies in Music Conservatory, Music Technology, Computer Science, and Interactive Media (Master of Arts, 1995), Danny founded two enduring creative ventures:
• Soundpalette (est. 1992) — a collective of composers and sound designers crafting original music and sound for film, theatre, and digital media.
• Audioease — a globally acclaimed music software company, best known for Altiverb, the pioneering convolution reverb that captures and recreates the acoustics of the world’s most iconic spaces — from ancient cathedrals to modern concert halls.
Alongside his creative work, Danny shares his knowledge and passion as a senior lecturer in Music Composition and Sound Design at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, dept. Music & Technology, inspiring new generations to listen, imagine, and compose with intention.
